5 Plumbing Issues You Should Never DIY

5 Plumbing Issues You Should Never DIY

Plumbing has a way of turning a $50 problem into a $5,000 problem if you skip a step. Here are five fixes we always recommend leaving to a pro.

1. Hidden slab leaks

If you hear running water with everything turned off, or your bill spikes, you may have a slab leak. Detection requires equipment most homeowners don't have.

2. Sewer line backups

Repeated backups, gurgling drains, or sewage smell = main line issue. Camera scopes and proper repair save you a flooded basement.

3. Water heater swaps

Gas water heaters require permits, proper venting, and a pressure relief check. Done wrong, they leak — or worse.

4. Whole-house repipes

Galvanized pipe replacement isn't a Saturday job. Coordinate with city water shut-off and pressure tests.

5. Anything behind a wall you didn't open

If you don't know exactly what's in the wall, don't cut. Call us and we'll scope it first.
